San Diego Plastic Surgeon Dr. Tom Pousti is a double board certified surgeon certified in General Surgery as well as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery serving the San Diego and Riverside County with over 20 years of broad medical and surgical training experience. Dr. Pousti is known for his warm, caring, and respectful approach to his patients as well as his extraordinary results. Patients have often said he is, “professional, courteous, attentive”, and have noticed his dedication and involvement to each patient soars particularly above acceptable. “Right away I knew that he would be more personally involved as a physician and surgeon than the other plastic surgeon and cosmetic surgeons I had looked into”. Dr. Pousti is exceptionally involved in each and every one of his patients.
Developing a personal relationship with each patient is Dr. Pousti’s main focus during a consultation. He firmly believes in understanding not only what surgery the patient is interested in, but digging deeper and uncovering why that particular surgery is in their interest. Prior to the consultation process, Dr. Pousti encourages patients to research pictures of what they would hope to achieve after surgery as well as results they do not like, so that he is able to tailor each surgery specific to that patient. During the consultation, patients are also given several albums including pre-operative and post-operative photos of Dr. Pousti’s previous patients to not only review his outcomes, but to also choose photos the patients likes and dislikes and their reasoning behind their decisions. During this process he creates a “portfolio” of your pictures that he takes into the operating room on the day of your surgery. This enables Dr. Pousti to reference to those photos during that patient’s surgery, which helps ensure astonishing results. Not only the benefits, but risks and complications of surgery are addressed to each patient at this time. Safety is always Dr. Pousti’s main concern. Dr. Pousti will meet with the patient as many times as they desire until they are comfortable with scheduling their surgery. He firmly identifies the magnitude of trust involved before, after, and most importantly throughout the surgery.
Before each surgery, Dr. Pousti takes the time to meet with you in the office for your pre-operative appointment, usually the 3 weeks before surgery. Another appointment would be the night prior to surgery, during this appointment, Dr. Pousti will perform “markings”. These markings and measurements aide in preparing Dr. Pousti as well as the patient for the upcoming surgery. Dr. Pousti identifies each patient is unique with diverse body types and structure, which is why marking are tremendously important to him and aide the patient in understanding what exactly will be addressed and focused on during the operation.
