Juvenile Breast Reduction
Juvenile Breast Reduction is designed to improve the appearance and symptoms of overly large breasts in young teens. Breast hypertrophy can cause both physical and psychosocial consequences as the breasts are too large for the teen’s body frame. The teen may experience different degrees of back, shoulder, and neck discomfort associated with large breast and may seek the care of a chiropractor to temporarily alleviate some of the pain. Simple juvenile activities such as exersize or shopping are bothersome to young teens experiencing breast hypertrophy. An ideal candidate is at or near their ideal goal weight and must be willing to accept scars resulting from breast reduction surgery in exchange for the improvement in size, contour, and position of the breasts. While breast reduction surgery is one of the most patient pleasing operations performed, the need for further surgery may be necessary in the future if the breasts were to grow large again, for example after pregnancy.
Before / After 4 weeks
This is an actual patient of Dr. Pousti.
During juvenile breast reduction, the excess breast tissue, adipose tissue, and breast skin are removed. This procedure both reduces and lifts the breast to a more pleasing position on the breast mound, improving neck, back, and shoulder discomfort. With the reduced discomfort, teens find it easier to perform their daily activities such as exercise and finding clothing as well as feeling comfortable in clothes is no longer an issue.

I’m 16yrs old and just had the best experience of my teenage life. A breast reduction! Most would say that 16yrs old is way too young to make such a permanent decision about one’s body. For me the decision was warranted. At the age of 13 my breast had already reached the size of 28D and I my body frame was a size zero. Talk about disproportion. By the age 14yrs I had become so uncomfortable with the heaviness dragging on my neck and back that I had to give up gymnastics, horseback riding and tap dance-all things that I loved. I was never one to be uncomfortable with my body, I believe people should love who they are, but having such big breast on my small frame caused me not only physical pain but emotional pain too. I didn’t like the way people looked at me, I didn’t like the way clothes fit, I didn’t like the attention my breast unintentionally brought me. Things like prom dress shopping and getting fitted for a costume for the school play, things that should be fun and memorable made me miserable and embarrassed. I didn’t dare wear a bathing suit or tight fitting t-shirt, those things and the attention they brought just didn’t fit my personality. By age 16yrs I was size 30F and miserable (l say F-s plus because l was busting out of that size but refused to go bigger)
This surgery is the best thing that has happened to me. I knew I wanted a breast reduction by the time I was thirteen and l was bound and determined to get one. It took several years of coaxing from my mom and my team of doctors-pediatrician, physical therapist, chiropractor and especially Dr. Pousti…he’s a hero in my book. I felt he understood my pain and wanted the best for me. I’m so glad that Dr. Pousti and his team are the ones that got my insurance to approve this surgery. They made me amazingly comfortable, I wasn’t scared at all. I woke up from the surgery instantly feeling the relief in my neck, back and shoulders that l had dreamed of for over three years. I’m now extremely happy with my body, the results are amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor.
It’s only been three weeks since my surgery and I honestly feel like a whole new person. Shopping for clothes is super fun…I can buy bras off the rack! I can wear strapless! I love my new 30B’s. They are perfect for me and l’m a very happy confident person because of how much Dr. Pousti and his Team cared. They Rock!
Sincerely with Love
